I to love the 360 and MCE. but I seemed to have gone through some of the things you did. the linksys AG router is garbage. Wish I could wire the house. Anyway i want to get rid of all my music files on the 360 and start over. I started with way too much and it takes a long time to search (1800 albums). Do you have any idea on how to do this? If you uncheck the folders they still show up.

Sorry for the enormous delay in response - worst thing about a blog - you let it get stale quickly and it just gets boring fast! :)

In case you don't know - hooking the Xbox 360 up to the Media Center enables the 360 to show HD recordings, music, photos, etc. to be presented on another room's TV.

So, I have 1 MCE and the 360 is an extender, making the system much more valuable while not having to buy 2 PCs.

I believe if you already purchased the hardware phone yourself and it's not locked to vonage, try other services like vbuzzer will be a better solution. The service quality is the same but price much cheaper.

Steve,

You're absolutely right - I thought of that before putting Vonage in - we actually have alarm.com AND a cell phone ready. Alarm.com is a completely wireless alarm system, based on GE's best alarm technology - the link to the central station for monitoring is wireless and seperate from the phone connection which makes 911 calling on the Vonage line not as critical. With Alarm.com, Vonage and cell phones, I get the security and lower pricing that we're lookng for - my wife is very satisfied with the alarm and security setup - the biggest complaint she had in the past was the stability of the Vonage connection and for the last week that seems to have been resolved with the Cisco router. I'll have to post something on the Alarm.com service - it's excellent and I can't rave enough about it.

You need redundancy if you're going to throw the vonage on there, if not in network hardware then a cell phone for your wife. Can you check stats on that router like cpu load and memory utilization? Just checked it out on Cisco's site, that's a sweet little box you got yourself.
